LASAIR
South West Ceilidh Band
About The Band

Lasair are a ceilidh band based in the west of England. They are one of the fastest rising English ceilidh bands on the folk scene at present. After a huge festival year in 2016 where they gave showstopping ceilidhs at Warwick Folk Festival, Folk East, Towersey Festival and Bromyard Folk Festival they are very much on the map as one of the most in-demand ceilidh dance bands on the circuit. They boast an exciting tune section of fiddle, melodeon and mandolin backed by a funk-driven rhythm section of drums, bass and guitars.

Jodie - Fiddle

Jodie leads the line as a highly experienced Ceilidh fiddle player. She has played with various bands in her time developing a unique rhythmic playing style. Jodie has a love of traditional Irish music stemming from her Father's relentless whistle playing since she was a small child. But don't worry, she isn't sick of it yet!

James - Drums

Having been born into folk music through Morris dancing James has followed this up with appearances in many bands (folk and non-folk, drums and guitar) prior to Lasair.  Drawing his musical inspiration from traditional English & Irish music, funk, rock and trained in jazz drumming, he brings a broad, solid foundation for the band to rest on.

Ioan - Bass

Ioan provides a funk edge to the low end. He has been a part of other bands prior to Lasair but now brings his diverse style to the folk scene. Interesting Ioan fact: He can take off his socks and roll them into a single ball, with only his feet!

Alfie - Guitar & Mandolin

Alfie is an entirely original guitarist. Bringing a unique Irish guitar sound with in drop-d tuning. He also plays mandolin with Klezbians and spends his normal days on a fiddle making apprenticeship down in Penryn.

Ben
Ben - Electric Guitar

Ben is an in-demand guitarist with much experience. He is a regular in the Tim Edey Trio and was a member of the most recent incarnation of Folk Rock legends, Albion Band.
